Updating firmware.
Update channels, what SubMix and Mix 2 actually mean, the steps — and a straight read of the risk.
Read this part first
The project labels in-Utility firmware updating experimental, even though it is well tested. You take responsibility for the outcome, there is no warranty, and a device damaged this way may not be covered by TC-Helicon either. If you are at all unsure, use the official app to update firmware instead.
For context rather than reassurance: the team reports 300+ successful flashes across both device types, upgrades and downgrades alike. That’s a good track record, not a guarantee. And you should only do this if you’re willing to trust the project’s firmware sources.
What you need
- Utility 1.2.0 or later. Earlier versions can’t do it.
- A GoXLR or GoXLR Mini.
As of 1.2.4 the firmware files come from the project’s own update sites rather than a third party:

If you go for Mix 2
- Windows needs a matching driver. The Utility links it for you when it’s required.
- Linux rolling distros are fine as-is. Older fixed-release distros need an updated
alsa-ucm-conf.
Doing it
- Open the Utility.
- System → Utility Settings, and pick your update site: Live or Beta.
- Back on the System tab, click Firmware Update.
To flash a specific local firmware binary instead of whatever the channel offers, hold Ctrl+Shift while clicking Firmware Update and choose the file.
